Pontypridd Big Weekend tickets now available
Following the recent announcement that Orchard Live – one of the UK’s leading events promotion companies – are bringing Ponty’s Big Weekend back to Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd – the Council is pleased to confirm that tickets can now also be purchased at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, which recently re-opened to the public for the 2019 season.
Multi-million record selling artists Ocean Colour Scene will headline the popular event, which will also see performances from globally recognised acts such as The Bluetones and South Wales’ own Goldie Lookin Chain. In addition, a number of local bands and performers such as Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, The Pitchforks, Al Moses and Young Garbo will also be taking to the stage.
Ponty’s Big Weekend will be held on Saturday, August 17, at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, and tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.co.uk, over the phone on 0844 844 0444, or in person at both of the County Borough’s theatres (The Coliseum in Aberdare, or the Parc and Dare, Treorchy), or at the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty.
Councillor Maureen Webber, Deputy Leader for Rhondda Cynon Taf and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Events, said: “I am delighted that Orchard Live are bringing Ponty’s Big Weekend back to the beautiful Ynysangharad War Memorial Park this summer.
“We have worked closely with Orchard to enable tickets to now be purchased from the Lido Ponty, giving those in the south of the County a central venue from which they can purchase tickets in person. This now means that tickets for the much-anticipated event can be purchased at three of our main attractions – the Lido Ponty and the Coliseum and Parc and Dare Theatres – and this is in addition to the online and telephone options provided.
“I hope that the return of the Big Weekend will be the first of a number of significant and exciting events lined up for Rhondda Cynon Taf over the next few years and provides another boost for our County after the announcement that we will host the National Eisteddfod in 2022.”
