Rhondda Cynon Taf Council why are you ripping parents off ?

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council why are you ripping parents off you are over charging for your new school uniform for the new Aberdare Community School.

You expect a parent to pay £35-00 for a blazer you are forgetting this is not a private school there are working class people on low wages again you are cashing in on vulnerable people.

I am informed that you cannot purchase your blazer etc from an outside store because the school logo is sown in to the blazer is this correct?
M & S are not known for cheep clothes but you exceed them with your prices

Parents need to choose where they purchase the school uniforms and your logo needs to be sold independently so parents can sow on to anything they purchase just like we did in the past.

Aberdare Community School has a uniform for the following reasons:
1. So that all students develop a sense of identity in school and can be proud of their appearance.
2. So that all students wear clothing that is appropriate to the function in school and individuals will not ‘stand out’ for any reason.
3. So that parents/carers can dress their children economically, particularly during the years of speedy growth.

“Can dress their children economically? I don’t think so RCTC

Think you will find this is a school decision and has nothing to do with the council as uniforms is a decision that the schools Make.

Don't know the detail but saw something on face book along this lines and the answer back wasn't as things first seemed and they do a very good package for new uniforms

It may be a school decision but is the Director who is responsible for running education well paid by RCTC therefore it’s the council who is ultimately responsible for school uniforms.

Or are you saying the new school runs on its own, makes all its own decisions? No need for the director and PA then, save a few bob.

With a salary of £113,000 a £35-00 blazer for Chris Bradshaw is peanuts

If it's a "cheque book school" with a governing body I am exactly saying it's the schools decision and in fact nothing at all to do with the council. Schools have delighted budgets and responsibility, governors set the policies and also I connection with the head they agree a school uniform. I think though Lewis you must have known that before posting "rhondda Cynon Taff council why are you ripping off parents" me thinks you have a personal grudge lol

“If it's a "cheque book school" with a governing body I am exactly saying it's the schools decision and in fact nothing at all to do with the council. Schools have delighted budgets and responsibility, governors set the policies and also I connection with the head they agree a school uniform.”

And where do you think I would have had that information?

I am not privy to the workings of RCTC or Aberdare Community School.

But you seem to be well informed of all aspects of the way Rhondda Cynon Taf Council functions and runs its departments.

Perhaps you can shed some light as to why a manager on £50,000 a year working in Environmental Services constantly fails to respond to simple e-mails?

Octant answer for mangers that don't answer emails, either he shod be dealt with or he is ignoring them for a reason I do t know,

All come schools are cheque book schools in Rct and have governing body's running them, I believe Alun Maddox is the chair of the new school.

So maybe do some checking before making random posts saying Rct council are ripping parents off - no wonder no one wants to post on here with the endless made up dribble from Lewis

Would that be Alun David Maddox who holds a few directorships in RCT?

Please can anyone inform AberdareOnline what schools in RCT have school blazers at £45 each?

The new head said she has 3 girls

Head teacher Salary: (£90,704 - £105,097) with the option of a recruitment payment of up to £10k for an exceptional candidate plus a relocation package.

I don't think there are many parents who's children attend the new school in Cynon Valley with a salary of over £100 thousand

The head said

It is important that we establish our school as being separate from what has gone before. We want children to see themselves as a part of a new school with one identity hence the need to change the uniform as of September.

Blazers and the school logo on jumpers are compulsory items

Blazers must be worn in September and jumpers are optional allowing parents to purchase a blazer for September and a jumper as the weather gets colder.

The blazer is retailing from us at £35.00, this is £10.00 cheaper than blazers sold for other schools in our area.

The price of the uniform has been compared against that for other schools and is coming out considerably cheaper because we have opted to sell it ourselves

I understand your concerns about the costs for the uniform – I have three girls however -

We are selling the uniforms ourselves to drive down costs and ensure that pupils will have value for money
The maximum cost is £115.00 for a pupil pack
