Nant Gwawr Flood Alleviation Scheme & Cardiff Road Highway Improvements

Having visited the public exhibition for the above I wish to thank David Afia Project Manager for providing a detailed account of work proposed on the Nant Gwawr and highway improvements to Cardiff road.

There were adequate plans and information available giving visitors a good incite to forthcoming work proposed.

There will be disruption in the short term but for local residents that have had problems with flood water this scheme will not come soon enough, also the off road parking proposed will benefit local residents and all who use the B4275 Cardiff Road in Aberaman.
At this moment one of the sticking points seems to be a BT telephone pole out side the Cardiff Road Fish Bar and the cost of moving it. Anyone from Aberaman knows just how popular this shop is and just how many vehicles stop outside. I do believe David Afia Project Manager should be given the funding for moving the BT pole, I know from experience BT are rip-off merchants when it comes to moving telephone lines and there are only 5 lines being fed from this pole.

Kiln Street is to become a one-way traffic system in the short term when work is ongoing with vehicles entering Kiln Street from Brook Street towards Cardiff Road. I believe this temporary solution should be a permanent feature, as many large vehicles have to reverse back on to Cardiff Road. This problem has been known about for years I have a letter highlighting the problem from County Councillor Bryan Fitzgerald he was the chairman of mid Glamorgan County Council Highways Department at that time.

Good to see they doing work to this culvert as with the weather being more extreme floods are only going to get worse

The road widening works are also welcomed as it's a bottle neck in Aberaman
