A PLAID AM is calling for a speeding up of the installation of cash machines allowing free withdrawals in deprived areas of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff and the Cynon Valley.
Chris Franks, AM for South Wales Central, made the appeal after writing to LINK, the company running tens of thousands of ATMs across the UK.
A report from the Welsh Consumer Council had revealed that the four machines earmarked for the Vale had not been installed, as well as two in Cardiff South & Penarth. While in the Cynon Valley just one of the 16 machines allowing people to access their money was live, a further 12 were under contract and three outstanding.
