Rhondda Cynon Taf Weather Statement

Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, said: “The Council is aware that there is a risk of thunderstorms and significant rainfall in localised areas over the next few days, and Council Officers are taking immediate action to prepare and mitigate risks where possible, including through increased and additional inspections of high-risk culverts in communities across the County Borough.

“In addition to the daily culvert inspections, we will have a gully cleaning machine in operation out of both the Abercynon and Dinas depots until 10pm; whilst sandbag crews will be stationed across RCT to respond quickly to any incidents that may arise.  We have ensured that the depots at Abercynon and Dinas are both fully stocked with sandbags and lorries will be loaded ready for delivery if necessary.

“We are also ensuring that we have additional resources available after 10pm at night to respond as required.”
