Labour’s vanity project 10 flights into Cardiff Airport today compare that to Bristol Airport around 48 flights

Another disappointing decline in numbers for Labour’s vanity project say Welsh ConservativesWelsh Government data released today shows that passenger numbers at Cardiff Airport have fallen despite the easing of restrictions. In 2021, passenger numbers decreased by 44% compared with 2020 to 123,000. Furthermore, the number of domestic passengers fell by over 50% from 32,000 to 15,000 and the number of international passengers fell by 80,000.The Labour Government purchased the airport in 2013 for £52 million, yet it is now valued at only £15 million.  Commenting on the news,  Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS said:
“This is more disappointing news surrounding Cardiff Airport. It is clear that Labour have no idea how to run an airport and are happy throwing away millions of taxpayer’s money into this vanity project.“Labour Ministers need to stop hiding behind the pandemic and acknowledge the plain fact that their handling of the airport has been nothing less than shambolic.  Once again, under Labour, Welsh taxpayers are not getting good value for money.“The Labour Government in Cardiff Bay must get a grip of the airport and ensure that it can be put back into the private sector.”
