Face Coverings at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Rhydywaun

In light of the revised advice on this matter by the World Health Organisation, the Local Authority is strongly recommending that from 10 September 2020, face coverings be worn by all secondary school-based staff and secondary mainstream pupils when moving around common areas of school buildings including corridors, lifts, stairwells, toilets, canteen areas where physical distancing is unlikely to be maintained.

Face coverings for secondary schools (including home to school transport) will be supplied directly by the Local Authority and the school are awaiting this delivery. Pupils are welcome to wear their own plain face coverings.

Pupils are encouraged to place reusable face coverings in a plastic bag during the day when they are not being worn.

School Transport
Secondary age learners travelling on dedicated school transport must wear a face covering.
A refusal to comply with this requirement may result in a child’s place on school transport being suspended.

We are expecting a delivery of re-usable face coverings and one will be given to each learner in year 7 and above for their first return trip home.

We are led to believe that the transport department will issue a disposable face mask for pupils to wear until they collect their reusable mask from school. Replacements for lost or damaged face coverings will be available from a stock in school.
