Charities in Wales receive supplies boost

Charities in Wales have received £700 worth of food and supplies, thanks to a generous pre-Christmas giveaway by a leading builders merchant. All 67 branches of Selco Builders Warehouse surprised local good causes with food bundles and gifts as the countdown to the festive season begins. Each branch was given at least £250 worth of vouchers, with Selco staff enjoying going wild in the aisles before delivering the goods to their chosen groups.Selco’s two Cardiff branches – in Llanishen and on Hadfield Road – chose to support The Amelia Trust Farm (£450) and AP Cymru (£250).The total value of donations nationwide was a huge £19,400.The response has been overwhelming with Selco inundated with messages of thanks and support.Carine Jessamine, marketing director at Selco Builders Warehouse, said: “We decided that it would be a great thing to do to give these amazing groups a boost in the lead-up to Christmas.“We regularly support charities through our Selco Stars initiative but it was nice to do something completely out of the blue as a one-off surprise at a special time of year.“I know the branches enjoyed selecting their chosen groups and then going to purchase and present the goods to the charities.“Money can be so hard to come by for charities so donations like these really do make a difference.”With hundreds of trade brands always in stock and open seven days and for a minimum of 80 hours per week, Selco’s 67 UK branches are firmly focused on helping tradespeople complete their jobs as quickly and effectively as possible. As well as offering trade services and a café in branch, Selco also has a strong digital presence including Click & Deliver, a 30 minute Click & Collect service and a free Project List app which allows tradespeople to plan, manage, and quote for all jobs – as well as complete purchases - through their smartphone. For more information on Selco visit
