After the demise of The Aberdare High Level Railway Station for railway passenger services on both the High Level (ex-GWR and Vale of Neath) and the Low Level (ex-TVR and GWR) – victims of The Beeching Axe in 1964.

Some time later Aberdare High Level Railway Station was refurbished using council tax and EU funding by Mid Glamorgan County Council and Cynon Valley Council but for what purpose?

What happened after the restoration took place? Nothing Aberdare Railway Station was again left to the vandals.

So now it’s being refurbished again RCT ratepayers like paying twice for the same job? RCTC seem to think so, now Aberdare Railway Station is going to be turned into a café.

Many people in Cynon Valley think Aberdare Railway Station should be returned as our main station serving the people of Aberdare. The access is easer than the box and platform that now acts as the main Station for the people of Aberdare. https://www.aberdareonline.co.uk/node/24233
