With four months to go until the world-famous Nos Galan Road Races, online registration opened 10am today (Tuesday, September 6).

This year marks the 58th anniversary of the New Year’s Eve event in Mountain Ash, and entering the races is now easier than ever before.
Race places are always in great demand, with all race categories full to capacity well in advance of race night.
The message is simple – register now to take part, to avoid any disappointment later on.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and the Nos Galan Committee opened online registration for this year’s Nos Galan Road Races at 10am on Tuesday, September 6.
The Nos Galan Road Races are held each year in memory of legendary Welsh runner Guto Nyth Bran. It attracts thousands of athletes of all ages and abilities from around the globe.
Each year a celebrity Mystery Runner represents the spirit of Guto Nyth Bran. Last year’s Nos Galan Mystery Runner was Colin Jackson CBE.
Last year, due to the overwhelming demand once again, there was NO race registration on the day.
The annual event on Saturday,, December 31, is organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and the Nos Galan Committee.
The fun starts in the town centre at 4pm with the first of the children’s races. There will also be an elite race and the adult 5k fun run. Other attractions will include a spectacular fireworks display.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, chair of the Nos Galan Committee and Rhondda Cynon Taf Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Culture, said: “It is once again that time of year when we open online registration for the Nos Galan Road Races – an event that attracts competitors from all over the world.
“Last year, once again, all race entries were taken up long before New Year’s Eve, and we anticipate similar scenes again in 2016 as more and more people are eager to be a part of the biggest street party in Rhondda Cynon Taf.”
