Cwmdare children are in for a ‘spook-tacular’ Halloween
Halloween has arrived in Cwmdare after Cwmdare4Cwmdare (C4C) kicked off events with an evening of pumpkin carving with more than 80 youngsters from across the village taking part.
The sessions saw youngsters and their families immerse themselves in the spirit of Halloween to come up with frightful pumpkin designs. Further events are planned for this coming Saturday when a spooky walk will set off from Cwmdare Miners Welfare Club at 6:30pm, followed by a Halloween disco in the Welfare Club. Attendees are encouraged to dress to thrill!
The events have been made possible after the local energy company, Pennant Walters donated money to C4C.
Cllr. Ann Crimmings, Secretary of C4C, said:
“We are thrilled that we’ve been able to put on these Halloween events across the village. These past few years have been tough but we’re so happy to be able to get our families together face-to-face again!
“Children love Halloween and these events have been well received. We’ve had to put on two pumpkin carving sessions to cope with the demand! A special thanks must go to Pennant Walters for their continued support.
“We’d love to see everyone come together at the spooky walk in their best Halloween outfits.”
The funding is linked to Pennant Walters’ 9 turbines 22 MW Mynydd Bwllfa wind farm near Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, which became operational in the summer of 2015. It builds on previous donations which have seen the company provide money to support various local community groups.
