James Price - Aberdare Market - help to trace family history please

Hello

I'm researching my family history and found my great grandfather and his family once lived in Aberdare. He was James Price born around 1843, son of James Price, carpenter and Martha James (daughter of Lewis James and Ann nee Rumsey)

I have a book belonging to my great grandfather in which he records information about the Market at Aberdare where he was the market keeper (1881 census). James Price was married to Mary and had a son William James. Both mother and child died around 1882 and James left Aberdare. They are buried in an umarked grave in Aberdare cemetery. He eventually married my great grandmother Margaret Edwards from Aberkenfig, Bridgend and they set up home in Pontycymmer.

James was born in Llangattock as was his brother William (1839 to 1842) and sister Anne (around 1845). The family moved to Forge View and the youngest child Lewis was born there (around 1848).

James Price senior died when Lewis was about three and Martha married again - to Henry Lewis. I know that Anne Price remained in Aberdare and married a John Jones. She and her mother Martha are also buried in Aberdare cemetery.

If anyone can help I would love to hear from you. I'm looking for family members as my aunt who is 93 years young would love to know about her Price ancestry.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message.

You can also try the Mormon Church In Merthyr, you dont have to be a member. They have massive resources and their family history dept is open to the public, you would have to ring to find out opening times.

Thanks to Heddwch and Rockbloc for their very helpful replies.

Best wishes
