Young Wales are recruiting new Project Board Members

Introduction From Samuel, Chairperson:

“I’m Samuel, I’m 16 and I’m from Blaenau Gwent. I have been on the board since it was first formed in 2016 and I was appointed Chair in the September of that year. I’m also Youth Mayor of Blaenau Gwent. I really enjoy working on the board as it is an amazing opportunity to work to improve the lives of young people all over Wales”.

Calling all young people aged 11 to 18 who are passionate about Youth Voice, we have a fabulous opportunity for you!

Here at the Young Wales Project Board we would like to offer you the chance to come and join us. There are six NEW J places for the taking on the board. If you feel you are suitable to fill one of these places, then please complete and return your application by 12:00 noon on the 26th of November 2018.

Being on the board is an amazing opportunity to build confidence and to engage in work that directly affects the lives of Young People here in Wales.

The role involves advising the Young Wales team to develop, deliver and scrutinise their programmes of activities, meeting with Welsh Government Officials, AM’s, MP’s and other key figures such as the Children’s Commissioner and Future Generations Commissioner.

The board also provides a chance to plan and run conferences and to deliver workshops to Young People all over Wales.

The commitment is to attend Board meetings that are usually held on a Saturday or during school holidays, and we meet at least six times throughout the year!  We currently meet in either Cardiff or Pembrokeshire – but all travelling costs will be covered.

The role may sound serious and it is, but also allows for plenty of fun and laughter along the way. A place on the board allows you to gain experience, memories and friends for life.

So, if you like the sound of this opportunity, please let us know.
