Year 5 and 6 Art MAT Day
Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of holding a MAT (More Able and Talented) day for 23 Year 5 and 6 pupils from Cwmbach, Penderyn, Abernant, Cwmdare, Capcoch, Town Church, Caradog and Aberdare Park primary schools.
We started by learning about Pop Art and the work of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The pupils then learnt about contemporary pop artist Dean Russo.
Each pupil created a mixed media piece inspired by Dean Russo based on a celebrity of their choice. The pupils experimented with a range of materials including oil pastel, spray paint, watercolours and acrylic paint, and they also learnt about tone, pattern and texture. It was such a pleasure having these pupils for the day, they were excellent and the work they created was outstanding!
