Work is progressing on the new access route for the latest road crossing at the Ynys Roundabout but how much longer will you need to walk to get to a similar point at the new crossing?

Work is progressing on the new access route for the latest road crossing at the Ynys Roundabout it must be costing council taxpayers a bit with all that new brickwork and railings but it’s only money.

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council published a statement “while the new pedestrian route is just 70-metres longer than using the existing footbridge.”

Having paced the distance out from the base of the existing footbridge on the Abernant side to where one of the workmen working on the new access informed me where the new footbridge with cross the River Cynon its approximately just over 100 yards long that’s one-way so you need to double that to 200 yards or 182.88 meters for the return on the other side of the river where the new footpath is being constructed.

So what it amounts to the new route is as RCT Council say DDA compliant but what the council haven’t explained is if you at the moment just use the existing road crossing and you don't want to use the footbridge you will have to walk an extra 200 yards or 182.88 meters when the new road crossing is completed or use the footbridge.

Was there a consultation about moving the road crossing? If so where are the comments?
