Welsh Liberal Democrats achieving for our children.

Thanks to the Welsh Liberal Democrats' budget negotiations at the Assembly since 2012 a pupil premium has given schools extra money for each child on free school meals. This extra money is paid directly to schools for them to spend as they see fit to help make sure every pupil gets the help they need to achieve the very best they can.

Schools in Rhondda Cynon Taff will have received an extra £23 million between 2012 and 2017.

Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly candidate Mike Powell, a governor at Coedpenmaen primary school, says

"I have seen first-hand the difference this extra money is making and I am determined if elected in May to see it continue and indeed increase.

"Traditionally pupils on free school meals have, on average, not achieved as well as others. Often this is because they do not have access to computers or the internet at home, for example. This money helps bridge the gap and ensures that every child has the best chance to get on in life.

This is just one example of what we have achieved in opposition at the Assembly. Positive moves to improve the lives of people across Wales."
