Welsh Ambulance Service to hold recruitment and awareness day in Cardiff

THE Welsh Ambulance Service is holding a recruitment and awareness day for people interested in making a real difference to their community.

The event, which is being held in Cardiff, offers an opportunity for members of the local community and from further afield to find out more about how the organisation works.

Members of staff will also be on hand to provide information regarding the different job roles which are carried out within the Trust, as well as current vacancies.

The event takes place this Friday (January 27th, 2017) at the Culture and Media Centre in Loudon Square, Butetown.

Bob Tooby, the Trust’s Head of Operations for the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area, said: “We’d love for as many people as possible to attend on Friday and find out more about working with us.

“We are particularly interested in encouraging our minority communities to come along and to help us to deliver the best possible services across all areas.    

“Even if you’ve never worked for an ambulance service before, it’s never too late to take up an exciting new career and our staff will be available to tell you all about the different routes you can take to be part of our bigger team.

“No matter what your role is within the Trust, we’re all driven towards providing the best care possible for the people of Wales along with our many visitors.

“If you’re interested in joining an organisation which is continually transforming services to meet the ever-changing needs of the communities we serve, then we want to hear from you.”

The drop-in session will run from 10.30am and 2.30pm and members of the public are invited to attend at any point during this period.

The Welsh Ambulance Service employs more than 3,000 staff and volunteers, and everyone has a vital role to play in providing a great service to patients, either in a permanent or voluntary role.

Its holistic services include the Emergency Medical Service, Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service, Clinical Contact Centres and NHS Direct Wales as well as support service departments who play a vital role in its day-to-day work, from managing finances to keeping IT systems working.

The Trust is equally keen to attract volunteers who are prepared to give something back to their communities in a voluntary capacity as Community First Responders.
