I am standing for election here because quite simply I care about this area and what happens here.
We need to break the cosy Labour consensus that has existed in the Pontypridd constituency for far too long. We have been under the Labour thumb in RCT and in Wales for more years than most can remember yet what exactly have we got to show for it?
We have a Labour Council, AM, MP all singing from the same hymn sheet. Nobody is prepared to challenge what is happening locally. To make sure we get a fair deal
I have fought alongside local residents against cuts to nursery education, against the removal of Pontypridd paddling pool, for the retention of services at the Royal Glamorgan, to save Rhydyfelin library. Against unfair decisions at all levels of government.
A Ponty boy born and bred I care about what happens in our community. I am not interested in climbing the greasy career pole at Westminster, in slogans and soundbites My interest is in sticking up for people here and ensuring fair play.
I want my family and yours to grow up in an area that is safe, where they can find jobs, where there is adequate housing, good health care and an education system to be proud of. That will not happen whilst the Labour party continue to view the Pontypridd constituency as theirs by right.
This area deserves more at a local and national level. I want a better future for this constituency and the people in it. RCT is at the bottom of all the wrong league tables - highest unemployment, poorest health, fewer pupils attaining good GCSE grades. It is not good enough - we deserve better. We don't need career politicians we need someone to fight for us.
