Voice of anti-austerity alliance must be heard in TV debates

Responding to the Prime Minister's latest comments regarding proposals for televised debates ahead of the General Election, a Plaid Cymru spokesperson said:

"Plaid Cymru's priority is for the TV debates to be a full and accurate reflection of the choice facing voters throughout the whole UK in May.

"Alongside the SNP and the Green Party, we represent a progressive anti-austerity alliance which, at present, lacks a voice in these debates.

"The Prime Minister's comments that the Greens should be included in order to attack his opponents from the left are deeply cynical.

"It is a simple matter of democracy that Plaid Cymru, the SNP and the Green Party should be included in these debates.

"The media has a responsibility to inform voters that there is an alternative to the Westminster austerity agenda and we will continue to put forward this compelling case."
