Summer fun at Garwnant Visitor Centre

Parents struggling to keep their children entertained during the summer holidays will be glad to hear that there are plenty of fun activities on offer at Garwnant Visitor Centre, Merthyr Tydfil this August – free of charge!

From learning a new skill, such as how to master rock climbing, to getting closer to nature and meeting new woodland friends, there is something for everyone.

Haf Leyshon from Natural Resources Wales said:

“Keeping the kids entertained during half term can be a real struggle, and a costly one, but Garwnant offers a forest haven just a short distance from the busy city centre of Cardiff.

“We can offer adventure, adrenaline and education all in one, helping children to learn more about the forest, the creatures that live there and why it’s important that we protect them – all in a fun-filled environment.”

Events are taking place as follows:

21 August – 10 am– 3pm – Forest Frenzy

Come and experience the wonders of the outdoors and have a go at some adventurous activities including guided mountain bike lessons, rock climbing and much more. Suitable for all ages (some restrictions on activities – places limited).

24 August – 10am – 3pm – The woodland wild side

Meet our environmental experts from the local area. Fun filled activities for all ages.

29 August – 10am – 3pm – Teddy bears picnic Fun Day

Come and bring along your best dressed teddies and treat them to a picnic in the woods. There will also be lots of family fun to get involved with such as bouncy castles, face painting and much more.
