Shadow Minister welcomes plan for wales to receive a freeport

The Shadow Minister for Economy, Russell George MS, has called on the Welsh Labour Government to stop keeping Wales “in the dark” and urgently publish a roadmap out of lockdown.

Mr George made the calls following a report that some shop owners feel they have been “treated like children” over the lack of certainty and detail of when non-essential retailers will reopen.

He said: “Businesses’ concerns over their future are legitimate and concerning, and for the Welsh Labour Government to still be leaving them in the dark with just 24 hours until the next review is totally unacceptable.

“Families, businesses and workers have been crying out for a roadmap out of lockdown for months, and it’s high time that the Welsh Labour Government finally answered their pleas immediately.

“Wales has been in lockdown since late last year and desperation is running high in all areas of society.

“The only credible way forward is for a roadmap with attached dates to be published and I implore the Labour Government to act on this immediately to give families, workers and businesses across Wales the clarity they deserve.”
