Schools Cross Country Picture Special
Pictures are now online from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s successful Junior Cross Country Championships, which is involving hundreds of schoolchildren from across the county borough.
Over 400 pupils have already competed in the Cynon heats at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare and Gelligaled Park in Ystrad.
A further 330 are set to compete in the Taf heat at Hawthorn High School on Tuesday. The winning schools from each of the three heats will go on to represent the county borough at the South East Wales finals at Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff in December.
So far, already confirmed for the finals from RCT are Darran Park Primary in Ferndale, Ynyswen in Treorchy and Cwmdar and YGG Aberdar in Aberdare.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Leisure and Sport, said: “Well done to all the pupils who have taken part in this event so far, their performance has been outstanding.
“Also, very best of luck to the remaining pupils who compete in the Taf heat next week – we look forward to cheering you all on in the South East Wales finals in Cardiff next month.
“This competition is yet another example of the huge range of work that is taking place at all levels to introduce young people into new sports, help them find new hobbies, hone their talents and shine in their own right.
“Find out more about sporting opportunities and clubs you can get involved in on the Sport RCT pages.”
