On Saturday 7 July, Macmillan Cancer Support celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Macmillan Rhondda Walk, and we’re looking for help from your readers to make this year’s walk the best yet!

This year we’ll be walking for Y Bwthyn – a £7 million specialist care unit at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant. The eight-bed unit will provide inpatient, outpatient and specialist day palliative care and support for people with incurable cancer and other conditions. Macmillan is contributing £5m towards the new unit – it’s our biggest ever single investment in Wales.

There are lots of ways that your readers can get involved. Sign up for the family-friendly, dog-friendly ten-mile walk. Details can be found on our website www.macmillan.org.uk and search for ‘Rhondda Walk’.  If ten miles is too far for you to walk then set up a 10 by 10! Just find another nine family members, friends or colleagues and walk a mile each!

If you can’t take the walk – then volunteer!  We’re looking for people to help set up the walk on the day and to be marshals along the route.

We’re also looking for sponsorship. Can you or your organisation donate water or snacks for our walkers? Perhaps you can help with banners and other Macmillan Rhondda Walk materials?

Join us and be part of something special and help us raise even more money to support people in Wales living with cancer.
Spread the love
