About Hawthorn Primary School Hawthorn Primary School is in Hawthorn, Pontypridd in the Rhondda Cynon Taf local authority. There are 248 pupils on roll, including 23 full-time and four part-time nursery pupils. There are six single-year classes and two mixed-year classes. The average proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals over the last three years is around 34%. This is well above the average for Wales, which is 18%.
