Pedestrian safety improvements to a crossing point in Abercwmboi

@StagecoachWales @RCTCouncil is there suppose to be a temporary bus stop by Capcoach in Abercwmboi? Busses not stopping. The Council has started work on a road improvement scheme at the B4275 Park View Terrace in Abercwmboi, to deliver pedestrian safety improvements at an existing zebra crossing?

The project will raise the current crossing on Park View Terrace, while carrying out associated resurfacing and drainage works. The new raised crossing will not only provide pedestrians with a safer crossing point, but will also change the current kerb arrangement to ensure the crossing is more suitable for all pedestrians, including those with limited mobility.
A contribution of £30,000 towards the scheme has been made by the Council’s Making Better Use (MBU) Programme, which is allocated within the £23.6m Highways Capital Programme for 2018/19.
The scheme has recently got underway having been scheduled over the school summer holiday to minimise disruption. Works are scheduled for completion by September, ahead of the new school year. They will require temporary traffic signals which may cause delays for motorists in the area.
Councillor Andrew Morgan, Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Cabinet Member with responsibility for Highways, said: “The Council will be delivering important Highway improvements at Park View Terrace in Abercwmboi this summer. It follows concerns raised by the local community and local Elected Members about motorists speeding in the area, which affects pedestrians attempting to cross the road.
“Improving the safety of our roads is an important part of the Council’s wider investment in its Highways, which saw £20m funding provided for the service area through #RCTinvest last year. It is being followed by the £23.6m Highways Capital Programme which is being delivered throughout 2018/19.
“A number of projects are ongoing this summer to create safer walking routes in our communities, focusing on complementing the significant 21st Century Schools investment in Tonypandy, Cwmaman, Tonyrefail, Porth and Treorchy.
“The works in Abercwmboi have benefited from MBU funding, and are taking place in advance of a significant surface dressing scheme at Park View Terrace which is scheduled for later this year.
“The zebra crossing works will take place throughout August, requiring temporary traffic signals. The Council will ensure works are completed as efficiently as possible, and that disruption is kept to a minimum. I’d like to thank residents and road users in advance for their cooperation.”
