In July the Welsh Government published the Green Paper: Our Health, Our Health Service to seek views on how they can improve quality and governance in the NHS.
The Green Paper also sought views on the future of Healthcare Inspectorate Wales. It asked:
- Are there gaps in the current legislative framework to allow HIW to operate effectively?
- Should HIW be provided with full statutory independence?
- How can joint working be improved between HIW and Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW)?
The consultation period ended on 20 November and we have issued our response to the Welsh Government.
