Oh Christmas Tree - Recycling

Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, what do we do with you when the festive season is over?

Recycle them with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s comprehensive kerbside recycling scheme throughout the County Borough.

The Council will collect trees from the kerbside following the festive season or residents can take them to their nearest Community Recycling Centres.

So instead of cutting them up and putting them in the black bag rubbish, they can now be collected on recycling day as part of the Council’s commitment to reduce waste sent to landfill.

All you have to do is break it up to a manageable size, place it into a clear recycling bag and leave it out for collection along with your recycling on your normal recycling collection date.

We will however be picking up your tree separately to your normal recycling following a change in legislation that happened on 1st January 2015.  If for some reason we miss your tree, please call us on 01443 425001and we will come back to collect it.

Don’t forget residents can also drop Christmas trees off at the Community Recycling Centres which operate from 8.00am to 5.30pm on any day with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. The five Community Recycling Centres can be located at:

  • Ty Amgen  Llwydcoed, Aberdare, CF44 0BX
  • Cymmer Road, Dinas CF39 9BL
  • Nantygwyddon Road, Gelli, CF41 7TL
  • North Road, Ferndale, CF43 4RS
  • Taffs Fall Road, Treforest Industrial Estate, CF37 5TT
