Nominate your sporting stars!

Residents are being urged to be on their marks for the 2015 RCT Sports Awards – and get their nominations in for inspirational sports people, teachers, coaches and volunteers who deserve recognition.

The popular awards are being organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Sport RCT team, which works at a grassroots level across the county borough – from promoting sport in schools and helping individuals develop their skills to helping clubs establish and grow.

Its dedicated officers can help you access the sport of your choice, find clubs locally and has specific support for those with disabilities looking to get into sport.

The team is also crucial in the development of future sporting talent – including the many stars who flew the flag for RCT in the Team Wales squad at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.  Its Future Champions scheme has identified scores of young people living in RCT who have the potential to compete in their chosen sport at a national and international level and are now receiving the training and support they need to reach their goals.

The entire spectrum of the Council’s Sport RCT work will be celebrated in the Sports Awards, which take place in March.

Get inspired before you nominate by reading about the exceptional sports people who were commended in the award last year.
