MACS PUPILS WIN FIVE INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS 2019
RELIGIOUS STUDIES DEPARTMENT
Many congratulations to Kia Kinsey and Charlotte Napier in Y10. Both pupils have won places on the 2019 'Virgin Atlantic – Be the Change' scholarship programme. These scholarships are worth £3,500 each and just thirty pupils from across the UK (out of over three-hundred applicants) have been chosen. The girls will spend two and a half weeks of their summer holidays, helping to build a school in Rajasthan, India. MACS becomes the first school in the UK to send pupils on this scholarship in consecutive years, having had three pupils win places last year also!
BRITISH EXPLORING SOCIETY SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
Congratulations to Shannah Mabbitt and Ilayda Waters of Y12. Both students have won scholarships to spend a few weeks of their summer holidays, exploring the stunning scenery of the Yukon Province, Canada. This is the second consecutive year that we have had students visiting Canada as the ‘Welsh Ambassador School’ for the British Exploring Society!
SEREN NETWORK USA SCHOLARSHIP WINNER
Congratulations to Jade Driscoll of Y12. Jade has won a scholarship to spend a few weeks of her summer holiday at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.), Boston, USA. Over one thousand pupils applied for a scholarship across the UK and just two hundred were selected!
