Lotto love needed for local Lido
A local project needs your votes to help it win in The National Lottery Awards 2016.
Lido Ponty is up against six other finalists from around the UK for Best Heritage Project, and is the only entrant from Wales in this category. It is competing for a £3,000 prize and the chance to feature on a BBC One show in September.
People have flocked to the reopened lido in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, Pontypridd, and it is now The National Lido of Wales.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council used National Lottery funding to help restore the 1920s art deco lido into a regional attraction, keeping some original features while adding modern comforts. The lido, which shut in 1991, now has three heated pools plus a café, visitor centre and new changing facility. This historic family attraction is the only one of its kind in Wales, and is Wales’ premier outdoor pool attraction and adventure play park.
TV star and actor John Barrowman will be presenting the National Lottery Awards for the sixth time this year. He says:

Now in their 13th year, the Awards celebrate the talent and dedication of the amazing staff and volunteers that run incredible life-changing Lottery funded projects for the benefit of their communities and the people who live in them.
“Your local projects have worked very hard to become finalists and they now need your support, because the project with the most votes in each category will be crowned the winner.
“Projects receive funding thanks to National Lottery players who raise £36 million every single week for Good Causes across the UK.”
