Local residents annoyed and angered with Rhondda Cynon Taf Council over the constant flooding of the Public Right of Way at the Ynys Fields Aberdare.
Residents are asking the question why after employing an outside contractor to install 2 new water pumps and associated services at a cost of £4060.28 plus VAT the problem remains.
Last winter the Public Right of Way was blocked for a number of months due to floodwater, a number of residents complained to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council over the flooded footpath.
Not long after the new pumps were installed a pump failed, a spokesman for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council said:
“The problem was found to be that a non-return valve had failed and has now been replaced, but it should be noted that any component can and does fail at some time. Although we do everything within our remit to maintain the equipment there will obviously be times when things can and do fail.”
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have a maintenance contract an annual Service Agreement of £250.00 pa plus cost of any parts require over and above that.
We were informed that the Public Right of Way is still flooded today.
