Jail for Aberdare cocaine dealer
A drug dealer from Aberdare was jailed on Tuesday, 27 August (2019) at Merthyr Crown Court.
Nigel Roberts, 57, of LLandewi Street, Aberdare, was arrested by officers on 6 July, 2019, after they found an ounce of cocaine in his house.
Police searched the property on the strength of an earlier road stop - officers suspected drug dealing in the area and stopped and searched the occupants of a vehicle which had just driven away from Roberts' address, finding a small amount of cocaine.
As well as drugs, officers searching Roberts' address also discovered deal bags, digital scales and a significant amount of cash which was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Detective Sergeant Justyn Lewis, from the region's Priority Policing Team, said: “It’s another drug dealer off the streets which can only be a good thing. Drugs come hand in hand with other violent crimes and bring misery upon users and their families.
He added: “Rest assured we’re already looking at how Roberts may have profited from selling drugs and we will be seizing any of his ill-gotten gains.”
Nigel Roberts was jailed for three years and eight months after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine with intent to supply.
