For Immediate release Celebrate the festive season with some magical offerings at Theatr Brycheiniog!

Autumn Season at Theatr Brycheiniog may be drawing to a close, but that doesn’t mean things are slowing down at the canal side venue. There are still some red hot shows to come that are guaranteed to warm your heart and keep you smiling right through the festive season and beyond.

Starting the festivities will be a live screening of The Royal Ballet’s The Nutcracker (Mon 3). Tchaikovsky’s much loved music is matched with a magical Christmas Eve adventure for Clara and her Nutcracker doll, and will feature some of ballet’s most familiar moments: the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Waltz of the Flowers.

For the second year running Brecon Town Concert Band will perform a Christmas Hits Concert (Mon 10). This year the concert will feature hits from the 1950s onwards and lyrics will be projected onto a big screen behind the band allowing the audience to join the festivities and sing along from the comfort of their seats, or indeed the stage if they are feeling adventurous.

The Art Society Brecknock’s final talk of the year will come from Geri Parlby as he explores The History and Art of the Nativity Crib. (Tue 11) The art form of the crib will be explored, from the carved masterpieces of the medieval era, to the extraordinary semi-pagan variations of South America.

The West End at Christmas (Wed 12) promises to bring a magical evening of entertainment as the cast perform hits from the musicals alongside the best of Christmas song. The cast includes Richard Woodford & Andrew Simeon, who have starred in a number of West End productions including Starlight Express, Wicked and We Will Rock You.

Charles Dickens’ classic ghost story A Christmas Carol (Fri 14 – Sun 16) is brought to life in a new production for the whole family to enjoy. Audiences of all ages will love watching Scrooge get whisked away on a terrifying journey through the past and into the future where his frozen heart will finally melt allowing him to embrace the festive spirit.

Closing Theatr Brycheiniog’s Autumn Season, and indeed the year, will be award winning Only Men Aloud. (Fri 21) The exceptional Welsh male voice choir are back to celebrate the achievements of their last decade in music with some of their favourite songs. The choir will be supported by talented Welsh classical crossover artist Gruffydd, recent finalist on Britain’s Got Talent.

Covering the festive period in the theatre’s Andrew Lamont Gallery will be an exhibition of ceramics and artwork from the South Wales Potters Group and the Swansea Print Workshop Collective. Running from 22 Nov through to 22 Dec the exhibition entitled From the Beacons to the Sea will provide a perfect place to shop for some festive gifts for your loved ones!
