FREE CPR & Defibrillator training sessions in Cowbridge
Local charity Welsh Hearts Calonnau Cymru, focus on funding Defibrillators in communities, businesses and schools throughout Wales, holding free CPR training and heart screening sessions to the public!
A free CPR and defibrillator training session will be held at The Bear Hotel, Cowbridge Vale of Glamorgan on Saturday 29th November from 11 am - 2 pm. Welsh Hearts are urging the people of Cowbridge to take advantage of this free training and learn some life-saving skills!
Welsh Hearts have trained over 11,000 people in CPR and have placed 360 defibrillators across communities in Wales. The aim of this is to drastically improve the chances of those that have cardiac arrests outside of the hospital where the first few minutes are absolutely crucial in saving their lives. When a cardiac arrest happens outside a hospital, it’s shocking that the survival rate is only 3%. Where an AED (defibrillator) is used, the survival rate is 50%
Sharon Owen, Charity Director stated:
“Too many people here in Wales are losing their lives to heart disease on a daily basis. There are 8000 cardiac arrests that happen outside of a hospital each year, so it’s so important for communities all across Wales need to be fully equipped with lifesaving skills and equipment.”
