Expansion to the A&E department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital

Cabinet Secretary for Health, Vaughan Gething, visited the A&E department at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital in Llantrisant today to look around four new examination / treatment cubicles that will be dedicated to the care of patients with minor injuries i.e. cuts, bites, sprains, fractures and other urgent minor injuries.

Kath McGrath, Deputy Chief Operating Officer said: “Additional space within the department is welcomed, as the existing facility is no longer of a suitable size for the volume of patients.

“The new minor injury examination / treatment cubicles will provide a dedicated space for those patients whose needs are less urgent so that they can be seen and discharged from the department quickly.”

The Health Secretary, Vaughan Gething, said: “I welcome this expansion which will allow patients with minor injuries to be seen and treated quickly and in a suitable environment.

“It will also provide additional space for the future.”
