Dear Sir/Madame,
My name is Carys Boulton, I am a young business woman from Aberdare. Two years ago I moved to The Midlands where I decided to set up my own company delivering Drama/Literacy Workshops for primary school pupils. I named it Creative Literacy Stars. I had to fund the business myself as no grant or funding was offered to me. I managed to reach out to over twenty schools using a variety of workshops, including PPA cover.
As well as being a professional actress, I have over 8 years experience in this area and have always had positive feedback. I am BA Hons trained and have a local DBS.
I have recently returned to Aberdare, and would love my business to expand and grow. I truly believe these workshops are a fantastic way to enhance pupils' literacy skills, as well as encourage confidence and allow children to have a voice in a fun, safe environment. The school can choose any theme or topic that is taught across the curriculum, and I create the plan to meet the class/school's needs. So teachers never have to worry about planning on a CLS day! Drama is going to be imperative in the new curriculum for Wales, allowing pupils to express creative arts.
I already have regular work at Town Church School in Aberdare after successfully carrying out Creative Supply days there. I have also carried out work at Rhigos Primary and Capcoch Primary. I would love to be able to create more jobs within the business and for the business to expand.
I am offering local Schools (Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil) a free 30 minute taster session with a 10% first booking discount.
I have lots of different programmes and workshops that are suitable for all primary age and ability as well as SEN.
I also have experience in singing, dance and Makaton sign language, which I have started implementing into mainstream workshops as an extra communication skill.
The company will serve ALL South Wales boroughs, where I am also hoping to work with local Communities Firsts during school breaks, where I can extend the workshops to families and pre-school children.
I would love for you to write a short piece about myself. I featured in the local newspaper in Leamington Spa and it managed to create some regular bookings.
