Drug dealing duo from Cynon jailed
Two men from the Cynon Valley caught with drugs including cocaine, MDMA and cannabis have been jailed.
Kyle Hopkins,19, from Allan Street, Mountain Ash, was the driver of a black Volkswagen Lupo which tried to speed away from a police car patrolling in Mountain Ash in the early hours of 6th April, 2020.
Liam Evans, 23, from Caemaen Street, Aberdare, was the passenger in the vehicle which eventually skidded into an embankment on Mill Road.
Both men tried to make off, but Hopkins was caught following a brief foot chase nearby and Evans was located a short distance away hiding in bushes near Fernhill train station.
During searches, police seized drugs including MDMA, Cocaine and cannabis.
Both were arrested and taken into custody.
They pleaded guilty to possessing MDMA, cocaine and a class C drug with intent to supply were both jailed for 18 months at Merthyr Crown Court on 13th November, 2020.
LPI Simon Merrick, said: “This case demonstrates the true value of regular patrols day and night. They were spotted by officers who knew them and they were caught red handed.
“As a result, these two young men will spend Christmas and the New Year behind bars where they can reflect on their choices and the impact those choices have had.”
