Closing Date For Race Sponsorship

Did you take part in the 2014 Nos Galan Road Races, raising money for the Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor’s Appeal?

If so, the deadline for handing in your sponsorship money is Friday, February 27 – with some fantastic prizes up for grabs to the person who has collected the most cash.

During his year in office, Cllr John Watts, Mayor of Rhondda Cynon Taf, has selected Macmillan Cancer Support (RCT) and the Royal British Legion as his two chosen charities.

Mayor, Cllr John Watts, said: “These are two charities which are close to my heart and I thank everyone who has donated money and supported my Appeal so far. The response is absolutely overwhelming.”

Around 1,500 people, of all ages and abilities, took part in the 2014 Nos Galan Road Races, held on the streets of Mountain Ash last New Year’s Eve.  Many thousands more spectators lined the route to enjoy this unique event.

The Nos Galan Road Races have once again been shortlisted in the Best Fun Run category at the 2015 UK Running Awards, having won the accolade last year.

Started in 1958, the Nos Galan Road Races are organised by Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and the Nos Galan Committee in memory of the legendary Welsh athlete Guto Nyth Bran.

The person who raised the most money for the Rhondda Cynon Taf Mayor’s Appeal at the 2014 event will be presented with a 23-inch LED TV, a DVD player and also a Kindle, kindly donated by Safestyle Security Ltd.
