Caplor Energy opens office in Merthyr Tydfil to keep up with demand in renewable energy
It’s been a busy time for Caplor Energy, who have recently taken on a new sales consultant to develop a Welsh office based in Merthyr Tydfil. Alex Fornal has been appointed to head up the company’s Welsh presence due to his strong background in renewable energy project development and management.
Alex Fornal’s lengthy experience in the renewables sector includes overseeing many aspects of large scale wind, PV and energy storage markets. His most recent role was director and principle consultant of GreenT Consulting Limited, dedicated to serving the Green Transition to a low carbon 100% renewable energy future.
Prior to working at GreenT, Alex was head of project development at Juwi Renewable Energy, where he was responsible for leading a team of project development managers and PV pipeline.
Caplor Energy’s experienced team of renewable energy design, installation and maintenance experts, have been busy installing high quality solar systems for business throughout South Wales for a number of years, so took the decision to appoint a full-time colleague to focus on this area.
A few projects we are particularly proud of include:
Installation of an 11kWp solar system for Down to Earth. Down to Earth is a not-for-profit charity that provide meaningful, outdoor experiences to vulnerable groups.
Down to Earth’s Project Manager, Seb, spoke highly of Caplor’s solar installers, commenting the team are:

Caplor Energy worked with a Swansea-based Landlord and the local District Network Operator to provide a solution to install solar systems to 11 units on the Clydach Industrial Estate, without any upgrade cost.
The project involved a bespoke solar system being designed for each of the tenanted units. The tailored designs were based on the size of the roofs, the electrical usage of the tenant and local grid restrictions. A Power Purchase Agreement was established between the landlord and tenant. The agreement provides the tenant with low cost power and the landlord an attractive rate return.
Caplor Energy also administers the Landlord’s quarterly feed-in tariff scheme returns. The paperwork is simplified by the installation of a remote monitoring system, which is checked daily by the Caplor team.
Caplor Energy have also been working with Gower Power Co-operative on a number of installation projects in South Wales. One project involved the installation of a 19kWp solar system at St Madoc Christian Youth Camp. The system provides low-cost power to the camp all year round and means Gower Power receives a secure rate of return for its shareholders.
