The Boundary Commission for Wales has published the statistics it will use for the 2018 Review of Parliamentary constituencies,

We have announced the commencement of a review of constituencies for the whole of Wales, in accordance with the Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies Act 2011  (External Link).  The review will not include consideration of proposals for the National Assembly for Wales constituencies or electoral regions.

We are required to submit a recommendations report to Parliament by the end of September 2018. We expect to complete the review within the statutory deadline.

Our recommendations will be based on the numbers of electors on the electoral registers as at 1 December 2015.  These were announced by the Office for National Statistics on 24 February 2016.

As previously announced, the number of constituencies for Wales will be 29 and every constituency in Wales must have an electorate that is between 71,031 and 78,507.  For more information please see the Commission’s full announcement in the Maps and Supporting Information.

A Guide to the 2018 Review will be published shortly setting out the policies and procedures for the Review.  This will be a useful guide for those wishing to participate in the review and will provide valuable information.

Initial Proposals will be published later this year which will be followed by a period of consultation. Please wait until the period of consultation starts before sending us your views.
