Beatus Cartons, based in North Road, Porth a local Firm Donates PPE To Council Staff

The Council has thanked a local Rhondda-based company for its kind donation of Personal Protective Equipment, which has helped provide our frontline care staff with 1,200 protective visors so far.

Beatus Cartons, based in North Road, Porth, approached the Council at the start of the Coronavirus national emergency with an initial donation of 600 of their prototype V1SORS. This was then kindly followed up with an additional donation for the Council’s frontline social care staff to use in reducing their risk of contracting the virus when providing vital care services to our vulnerable residents.

The V1SOR PPE one-piece visor is CE certified and Covid-19 approved, and comes with a tear-off protective film on one side to increase hygiene and give users additional protection.

The lightweight product is reusable, waterproof, washable and fog-free and comes complete with an integrated headrest and adjustable strap. It can also be worn over prescription spectacles and provides protection against splashes, covers the mouth, eyes and nose while at the same time allowing the full face to be visible.

Ordinarily, Beatus Cartons design and manufacture an array of packaging products, with their cartons used for a wide range of products from confectionary to pharmaceuticals.

Like many other businesses, however, the onset of the Coronavirus national emergency led them to use their skills and expertise in a different manner, with the company swiftly switching their focus to manufacturing the protective face shields.

Clive Stinchcombe, Managing Director of Beatus Cartons, said: “The Coronavirus national emergency has been a truly difficult and unprecedented time for all as we adjust to a new way of living.

“Our V1SOR product is a high-quality product which everyone can afford. It is made in the Rhondda at our manufacturing plant, which allows us to be able to keep our prices low and manufacture over 500,000 units per week.”

Councillor Robert Bevan, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Enterprise, Development and Housing, said:

"I would like to thank Beatus Cartons for their incredibly kind donation of their V1SOR product, which has been used by the Council’s frontline social care staff as they have provided an invaluable service to our more vulnerable residents.

“We have seen a number of examples across Rhondda Cynon Taf of our local businesses and enterprises showing fantastic initiative and really driving the fight against the Coronavirus by adapting their operations to manufacture PPE.”
