Welsh Hearts’ festive fundraiser ‘The Cardiff Santa & Elf Dash’ is back by popular demand for 2017. Now into its fifth year, the Santa & Elf dash has secured itself as one of Cardiff’s most popular sporting events.
Last year, Welsh Hearts saw over 2,400 participants get into the festive spirit to complete the 5k course around Mermaid Quay dressed up as Santa’s, Elves, Turkeys, Christmas Crackers & Christmas trees – to name but a few!
Join welsh hearts on 3rd December 2017 for a family friendly event suitable for all ages! Participants are invited to run, jog, walk, dash or even dance around the stunning Mermaid Quay to raise funds for Welsh Hearts, Wales’ Leading Heart Charity.
The Cardiff Santa & Elf Dash is an incredibly important fundraiser for Welsh Hearts, who, since 2013 have played a leading role in improving heart health in Wales.
Sharon Owen, Charity Director said “We are dedicated to improving the health of communities in Wales and to-date have supplied over 900 public access defibrillators throughtout Wales, trained over 35,000 people in defibrillator and CPR training and screened over 1,400 young hearts for heart abnormalities. Most importantly, we have saved lives!”
“It is our mission to continue to provide public-access defibrillators throughout Wales, to continue to grow the army of individuals who are fully trained in CPR and defibrillator usage and to lead the campaign for better awareness of cardiovascular health in Wales through events such as our Heart Screening Sessions”
We have a really small team and work extremely hard on producing enjoyable family friendly events throughout the year. Without these events, we simply would not be able to continue the work that we do. The Cardiff Santa & Elf Dash is our biggest event of the year. We encourage everyone to come and join us, whatever your fitness level, it doesn’t matter! It’s just a really fantastic way to bring in the festive season. Even if you choose not to participate, come down and cheer on your friends that do! We promise it to be a fun day for everyone!”

Registration is £10 for individual runners and £30 for a group of 4 and includes a t-shirt, a bottle of water and a certificate!
All funds raised at this event will go towards Welsh Hearts’ Keep Wales Ticking appeal. The primary aim of the appeal is to provide even more defibrillators into Communities Schools and Sports Clubs across Wales
