Local charity, Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled, has been nominated to receive a visit from Asda’s #asdacakemyday tour, in honour of Asda’s 50th birthday.

As a thank you for 50 years of loyalty to Asda, the supermarket giant is ‘caking’ people’s day, treating deserving customers, colleagues and communities to a special Asda cake as well as a grant of £6,240 from the Asda Foundation.

The #asdacakemyday tour will visit Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled on Monday 27 July at 1pm

Asda is celebrating its 50thanniversary by supporting local good causes in South Wales. Customers and colleagues at the Aberdare store were asked to nominate local community projects, with Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled receiving the most votes.

Mark Eccles, store manager at Asda Aberdare, commented: “We wanted to give back to a deserving cause in Aberdare as a huge thank you for the work they do in the community – and Green Meadow Riding for the Disabled really fits the bill. Everybody loves a party and a slice of cake, and as it’s our 50th birthday we wanted to celebrate with everyone who has helped make Asda what it is today these past 50 years.”

Set up in 1988, the Asda Foundation aims to have a positive impact on local communities, by providing support to a range of local good causes, chosen by Asda community life colleagues across the UK.
