Aberdare Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care raises £200 with virtual music videos!
Aberdare Friends of Tenovus Cancer Care have been busy asking young musicians to perform some of their favorite songs and share them on social media to raise vital funds and awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness month!
The very talented youngsters have displayed their skill with a flute duet covering Queen’s Boeheim Rhapsody as well as some amazing singers performing well-known songs from musicals.
The videos raised a spectacular £200 for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is likely we all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer in their lifetime. And this year, because of COVID-19, it is estimated that there are more than 300 undiagnosed breast cancers due to the suspension in screening during lockdown.
The group was thrilled that their virtual fundraiser was such a success and Carol Williams, Chairperson of Aberdare Friends say, “I’m so grateful for all the support of the talented musicians who have given up their time to support our fundraising campaign. We would normally be out and about in the community raising money and awareness at our annual Ladies’ Night and community bucket collections. So, we had to think a bit differently and we’re thrilled the response the videos have had so far. Thank you to everyone who has supporter. You can view and donate on the Aberdare Friends Facebook page”
Ceri Hill, Regional Fundraising Manager at Tenovus Cancer Care, was delighted that Aberdare Friends’ virtual fundraiser was so successful and says, “We’re so pleased and so grateful for all the group’s hard work organising something different for breast cancer awareness month. This year more than ever we need to be educating people of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer. It’s a huge worry that so many women and men might not know what to look for and I urge anyone who notices something different with their breasts to visit their GP.
We can’t thank the group enough for all of their hard work to help raise funds and awareness for the charity. The group supports Tenovus Cancer Care throughout the year by organising activities, this year all virtual, and if you’d like more information about what they have coming up please do get in touch on Carol on email@example.com”
