Aberdare Festival in Aberdare Park

Aberdare Festival is back over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, with lots of fun for all the family. 

The Council will once again be hosting the 2017 Aberdare Festival in the grounds of the picturesque Aberdare Park on Saturday, May 27. 

There will be live music throughout the day on the main stage, starting from 12pm, offering something for everyone. 

Aberdare Park is in close proximity to the historic town centre, with ample parking available in the area at the reduced rate of just £1 ALL DAY on Saturdays. 

All town centre car parks are also within walking distance of Aberdare Park, as well as being on the bus route. Blue Badge holders able to park in all Council-owned car parks free-of-charge. 

There will be lots to see and do at Aberdare Festival this year. As well as live music throughout the day, other attractions will include a family fun fair, offering plenty of thrills and spills for all ages, as well as a mobile zip wire, high ropes as well as a spider mountain and a vertical slide. 

Not forgetting of course, the chance to get up close to farm animals and exotic animals on the day! 

There will also be local craft stalls and food vendors in the park, offering plenty of handmade gifts and ideas and hot and cold refreshments. 

Christian Hanagan, Director of Cabinet and Public Relations, said: “Aberdare Festival is one of many family events staged across the County Borough throughout the year. 

“Events such as these attract thousands of visitors and help boost the local economy by bringing a large influx of people into our vibrant and historic town centres and the surrounding areas.

“This year we are also using this popular event to showcase local talent by running a competition for artists and bands from the area to perform on the stage in front of thousands of visitors.” 

Admission to Aberdare Festival is FREE 

Please note: Aberdare Festival is a zero alcohol tolerance event and random security checks will take place upon entrance to Aberdare Park to ensure the event takes place within a safe environment and is an enjoyable experience for all visitors. 

There is also opportunity for up-and-coming local musicians to become a part of this year’s Aberdare Festival, with the chance of performing on the main stage. 

In conjunction with Young Promoters Network, organisers Rhondda Cynon Taf Council are offering the opportunity for two local artists/bands to perform at Aberdare Festival on Saturday, May 27.
