    he Phurnacite plant is situated at the lower end of Aberdare, between Aberaman and Abercwmboi. The site covers approximately one hundred and fifty acres, made up of layer blender and reclaiming, briquetting plants, numbers 1 and Z, ovens = 7 batteries – one of which is out of use i.e. number 3, ammonia plant, welfare block – canteen, baths, medical centre, general offices, laboratory, weighbridges, workshops, various sidings.
