Cynon Valley Amnesty Group?
Posted by Owen Morgan from Robertstown, Aberdare on the 31st March 2017
Anybody out there interested in helping me start a Cynon Valley branch of Amnesty International, to be based in Aberdare? Only groups that exist in all of Wales are in Cardiff and Swansea, which for a nation the same size as Belgium is pretty bad. Amnesty International is the world's no.1 human rights organisation which lobbies for an end to discrimination, prejudice, torture, injustice and the death penalty. Work of local groups consists of letter-writing to Governments over their policies or over specific cases of abused individuals, raising public awareness, fundraising to help Amnesty UK in their work, public campaigning days to get people interested and concerned about human rights, and informative talks & discussions.
Any response welcome- remember that Wales has itself been an oppressed nation and suffered discrimination and prejudice.
