A4059 corridor through Cynon Valley

Rhondda Cynon Taf Council has started work on what Rhondda Cynon Taf Council inform us ratepayers and commuters that work will cost in excess of “£100,000 works are set to begin w/c 25th July and last for an estimated 4-6 weeks.”

Asda Roundabout A4059

As you know if you follow AberdareOnline we attempt to show how RCT Council fund projects, as many of you may be aware back in September 2013 Persimmon Homes worked on approach roads and Asda roundabout this was part of the planning agreement allowing Persimmon development consent to construct Coed Dyffryn at Tirfounder Fields Aberaman.

Now just 2 years later RCT Council are spending £100,000 on a left lane-widening scheme and another £40,000 on A4059 Cwmbach R/about Capacity issues – Design & Development only.

Do we have to ask the question why wasn’t lane capacity thought of when Persimmon Homes were granted development, and adequate highway improvements scheduled be prepared fit for purpose at that time?

Once again we see Rhondda Cynon Taf ratepayers paying out for new highway Infrastructure with developers reaping in the profits.

As we can see there is no forward thinking at the Labour controlled RCT Council, now Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd employed to construct a wider left lane only. It would be more beneficial in the long term to provide a dedicated left turn lane on the northern approach to the A4095 Asda Roundabout into the Aberaman Industrial Estate. There is ample room for this to be achieved and would improve traffic flows immensely at this point on the A4095 corridor.

Troed-Y-Rhiw Road Mountain Ash

It would seem Labour controlled RCT Council like wasting ratepayer’s money, just a few years ago they changed the road A4059 junction at Troed-Y-Rhiw Road Mountain Ash making no provision for north bound traffic to turn right into Troed-Y-Rhiw Road. Now we are informed the traffic junction will be altered again, Andrew Morgan leader of RCTC said on Twitter 7 August 2016 “next junction upgrade is Troed-Y-Rhiw as part if A4059 corridor works”.

Abercynon Roundabout A470

Anyone who commutes daily at peak times on the A4095 through Cynon Valley and A470 into and out of Cardiff know the highways are not fit for purpose, There are no specific dates or plans to fetch about major improvements. Abercynon Roundabout seriously needs a flyover built over it and an extra lane added to the A470 but that’s down to the Assembly Government. We are informed that Section 5 and 6 - Dowlais Top to Hirwaun start date is end 2018 and completion by 2020 at a capital cost of construction approximately £400m.

Did Labour controlled RCT Council inform us that the Aberdare Bypass would also be completed at this time 2020? That just leave’s the Southern and Northern Cross Valley links at Mountain Ash.
