Young people enjoyed badminton at Llantrisant Leisure Centre
Hundreds of children across Rhondda Cynon Taf enjoyed cracking fun during the Easter break, thanks to free High 5 leisure activities.
Rhondda Cynon Taf Council organised the range of free activities in its 10 leisure centres and swimming pools as part of its successful High 5 project. Youngsters aged 16 and under, along with their families, enjoyed organised pool activities and free indoor activities throughout the school break.
Free High 5 holiday highlights included junior swim lessons, snorkelling classes, five-a-side football, racquet sports, basketball, circuits and gymnastics.
Cllr Robert Bevan, Rhondda Cynon Taf Cabinet Member for Culture, Recreation and Tourism, said: “Children and their families were once again able to enjoy the wide range of leisure activities offered during Easter half-term, completely free of charge.
“Rhondda Cynon Taf Council runs its ever-popular High 5 scheme throughout all school holidays in a bid to get children fit and active. We understand it is not always easy to find ways to keep youngsters occupied, especially if the weather is not so great or money is tight.
“So our High 5 scheme offers lots of free activities so that everyone can get involved and maybe develop a new leisure interest they can continue to pursue after the holidays at their local leisure centre.”
High 5 forms part of Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Leisure for Life campaign that aims to get people of all ages active and undertaking exercise in a bid to improve their health and wellbeing.
