A year on what has Rhondda AM been doing for his constituents

RCT L

It is, Wales Online reminds us, one year since Rhondda AM Leighton Andrews departed from the Welsh Government Cabinet. Having landed himself in hot water over the campaign for the Royal Glamorgan he then waded in to the campaign to save Pentre Primary School - even though as Minister he had set up the rules under which RCT Council were acting.
He has been very quiet over the past year - far too quiet some would say given the issues in his constituency. Indeed he seems to have been more interested in the fortunes of Cardiff City football than the myriad of problems his Labour colleagues are presiding over.
In common with the AMs for Pontypridd and Cynon he has kept silent on the savage cut backs to services being made by RCT Cabinet.
He all but disappeared - certainly in public - over the fight for Pentre Primary. In common with the rest of the Labour contingent he has gone to ground over the battle to retain services at the Royal Glamorgan.
The Wales Online report says that Mr Andrew has spent much of his time writing a book on the Welsh education system. Given the state of Welsh education which has not been helped by a string of initiatives from him such as the much despised banding system it is difficult to see that there will be a huge rush for copies.
